Archiving not working

TobiasArnold
Level 6

Hi all,

I need help archiving old logs.
If I go to System -> Archiving there is a wrong, not writeable path, preset. After a short while there is a good Chance that a "BluePrim didn't working anymore" message box occurs.
Randomly I can change the "Archive Folder", but if I press the "Save" button another meassage box occurs "AutomateConfig isn't working ..."

So I switched to the command line:

C:\Program Files\Blue Prism Limited\Blue Prism Automate>AutomateC.exe /sso /setarchivepath "H:\BPArchive\"
results in
Failed to set archive path - Failed to find the automateconfig named pipe 'automateconfig-server-15164'

Inspecting the event log there a two entries (sorry, german OS :-))

Hi Tobias,

What's the current size of the top ten tables from the Blue Prism Database?
If the tables are oversized, you may need to execute housekeeping scripts.
These scripts can be obtained from the Blue Prism Customer Support by raising a ticket at support@blueprism.com.

Hi Jega,
thanks for your support. The BPA_Sessionlog_NonUnicode ist more than 1TB in size!
I have filed a supporticket now.

Your session log is more than 1 Terabyte in size?
How is working with Blue Prism with this amount of log data?

I am wondering because we had to set-up regular archiving to move away everything older than three weeks because Blue Prism became very unresponsive.
Even now it takes 'noticeable' amount of time to do open objects and work in general.
We run other instances on the same server/DB which much less activities on it, therefore smaller session logs, and they response much better, so it is not related to our HW.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for your hint, BP is running smooth with this amount of data 😉
We have a three tier architecture, with dedicated database and application servers.

In response to Walter.

I wonder how your Blue Prism became unresponsive due to large session logs table. In theory we are not reading from session logs tables when opening a object or process and insert queries to session logs shouldn't affect the performance drastically. I suspect the issue is something else.
