Spying Elements in Chrome

Hi,   I have installed BP version 6.4 and trying to automate a web application in Chrome. When I spy an element in chrome, it doesn't highlight the element captured. But when I perform Click and write, it is working.    Application will work only in Chrome, so had to use Chrome. I have enabled the extension.   Please help.   Thanks.

When you say it doesn't highlight the element, do you mean (1) it can't find the element when clicking 'Highlight' in Application Modeller or (2) it can find the element but doesn't put the red box highlight around it when clicking 'Highlight'? If #1, it should not be possible for it to find the element when performing the action but unable to find it when clicking Highlight in Application Modeller. Could you explain more? If #2, for me Blue Prism sometimes fails to show the red box when clicking Highlight. This could either be because it is happening too slow or because the element you're highlighting is not a visible element on the screen so there's nothing to draw the red box around.

Yes, my case is No 2, it doesnt show red box while identifying and highlighting the element. I have increased timeout but no luck. Any resolution for this?

For me its quite the opposite, it can identify a text box in application modeller by highlighting it in red, The navigation stage with click works no errors The write stage works in BP but it does not write to browser text box

Karthik, Does it affect your work? I agree that it does sound a bit annoying. But you're able to click and write just fine? I sometimes find that when I spy an element, it will return an error saying more than one element matched the query terms. Then, after I choose match index 1, it works just fine. But I can also use match index 2 to select the same element (it seems) but without the red box highlighting. And if I remember right, I was able to interact with that match index 2 version of the element. I suspect that just means the element has a container for itself and clicking/writing to the container or the inside element both work. But to highlight, only one of them draws the red box. mayfarouk, Sometimes it's not possible to use a write stage on elements, and the only way is to use SendKeys, copy/paste, or something like that. I'm not sure exactly why, but it could be because using a write stage does not trigger onUpdate and stuff like that.

I`ve encountered similar issue and the thing is BP V6.4.2 and below won't work with chrome update 76 and above. According to forum posts, BP 6.5 with extension 2.0 is much more stable.

Hi, do you have the chrome extension installed.

Also, I see similar issues. Here is what I did to fix the problem. 

• open chrome and in the navigation bar type 'chrome://flags
• then in the search flags text box type 'network service'
• make sure 'Runs network service in-process' and 'Data reduction proxy with network service' are enabled

I also faced issues while spying the elements in Chrome using Chrome extension. It got resolved when I installed the latest Chrome extension version 2.0. So looks like BP 6.5 and 6.5 works good with Chrome extension 2.0. so please check your components' versions.
