Surface Automation Guide

Hi all, Bit of background: I'm running Blue Prism 5.0 on Windows 10 64-bit I am attempting to complete the Surface Automation guide but can only get as far as section 3.2.2 Identifying a System Font. Blue Prism fails to identify the font as Consolas 18 despite the Smooth Edges of screen fonts being disabled. I think it might be running into problems with my display settings perhaps? My current resolution is 1920x1080 and I've tried different resolutions to no avail. When I manually attempt to identify the system font the application provided with the Surface Automation guide appears to be of size 17 which isn't a selectable option when searching. I also have various display issues with Blue Prism where elements on screen clip other elements however I'm not certain if this is related. Any help is appreciated, Regards, Stephen

Have you turned off cleartype and font smoothing on your PC first? If identify font does not work for you then you need to move onto the manual identification tab - takes longer as it is a visual comparison and experimentation.

Hi Trying to identify less number of characters sometimes works. For example, identifying ""1234"" instead of “1234567890”. In my view, ""0"" is especially hard to identify. Hope it helps.

Apologies in the delay in getting back to this. Both font smoothing and cleartype are off on my pc. Reducing the search text does not help. Regards, Stephen

I think it is time to reach out to whoever is mentoring you through your training to look at this with you. Let us know what the cause of the issue was.

Just a quick update on this in case other people face the same issue There's an obscure setting within the Windows 10 'Advanced Display Settings' under 'Advanced Sizing of Text And Other Items' then 'Set a Custom Scaling Level'. By default this was set to 125%, setting this back to 100% fixed all my display issues with Blue Prism and allowed me to spy the BP Calculator and carry on with the Surface Automation exercise. I did have to recreate my regions, as to be expected with any change to screen element sizes or display resolution but after that it picked up the font as Consolas 18 just like the guide mentions. Have also edited the original post with a screenshot of such.
