Capture 2.0 Export to XML

Alexander.Duff

Hi,

We're having issues when attempting to export a recorded process as an XML file.

When we attempt to export we're met with a small red [!]

4972.png
There are no other error messages other than the above.

Has anyone else come across this - if so - what is the solution?

Thanks,

As reference - Tom has resolved my issue in another thread

"Capture automatically exports to Downloads folder in C:\Users\USERNAME\Downloads. Could you both please ensure you have the same file path, if not could you create the appropriate folder to see if the problem is resolved?

Here's an example from my Capture v2.0 instance on my machine of the folder that the files export to:4961.png"

This solution worked for me for anyone experiencing the same [ ! ] error.

Hi Alex,

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Does this occur when you are only trying to export the XML file? Or are you selecting other export options at the same time?

Best regards,

I'm having the same problem when trying to export the recorded process to Visio. All other formats works.

I have closed Visio before exporting (Using Visio 2019 Pro).

Any advice?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

It's purely exporting as XML - no other options have been selected.

Hi,

Is there any update to this issue - it still persists.

Hi Alex,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Is this issue occurring for a particular process, or across all processes that you have tried?
Also, is this issue persistent across both versions (installed .msi and installer less .exe)?

Thanks,

Hi Fredrik,

These are the current known issues/limitations we have regarding exports:

  • Only one template is available for PDD export.

  • Microsoft Visio must be installed if Visio map export is required.

  • Visio map will not export if the user has an instance of Microsoft Visio running on their system. It must first be closed prior to Visio export.

  • PDD will not export if there are special characters in the Version field of the Export menu.

  • Steps that are manually added to the process will not be taken into consideration in the time taken field of the PDD.

  • The time taken fields in the PDD may be incorrect when reordering steps in the process.

  • The contents numbering does not automatically update in the PDD, the user is required to manually update.
If these do not apply to your particular issue, I would recommend raising a ticket with Customer Support to take a closer look.

Thanks,

Hi Rhys,

It's happening on all processes.

We mainly wanted to trial the capture tool for the XML output.

This happens for .MSI and .EXE

Both version create the [!] for each of the export options.
