Do I need Login Agent

Hi,

I am interested in using login agent.
What is the purpose of login agent- maybe better question would be: what are the prerequisites and conditions to have Login Agent installation recommended?

So when a runtime resource is powered on the runtime resource PC is not running, this will result in the runtime resource showing offline in control room and mean that you cannot run processes on it. Login Agent provides a means to login to the runtime resource and then start the runtime resource PC (usually via a script in the startup folder) so that it is available in control room to run processes. Other than using Login Agent, each runtime resource would need to be manually logged in and the runtime resource PC either gets started automatically via a startup script or started manually. Subsequently each runtime resource would also need to at some point be logged off, again Login Agent allows you to do this automatically.

The login and log off can be done via a schedule, say for example, at the start and end of the business day.

Hi Wojciech,

The Login Agent software provides a mechanism for securely logging into a Windows desktop device for the purposes of executing Blue Prism processes. See the login agent guide (link below) for more information;

Hi,
2 question:
1. Do i need it to log in into virtual machine (runtime resource) or am I able to do it in other way easly?
2. Login Agent should be installed on every runtime resource only or BP App server also?

Best regards,

In answer to your questions;

1. Login Agent handles the runtime resource virtual machine login, there are login and log out actions available with the login agent VBO. This removes the need to manually log in and out of each runtime resource virtual machine.
2. Login Agent is to be installed on each runtime resource.

Thank you for your answer, but what do you mean "manually log in and out of each runtime resource" - what does it mean technically- I was using login agent in the past but I am wondering how to handle logging into machine without it? Am I able to do it with pre-designed functionalities like "action" or I have to do it in some more complicated way?
