Importing and Exporting Queue items and logs

Hi everyone,

We are migrating between two BP version, but due to infrastructural reasons, we needed to migrate from the current application server to a new one (same for the underlying SQL databases). Therefore, all data from the current environment won't be available in the new environment. Is there however a method to transport some of this queue data to the new environment by means of importing and exporting, similar to releases of processes?

Hi Jonas there isn't I'm afraid, queue data contains references (eg to processes and resources) that will not be present in the new DB.

One possible technique is to copy the original DB into the new infra. The advantage is that you won't lose data but the disadvantage is that you will need to clean the data, eg mark old resource PCs as retired, delete unwanted session logs etc.

Creating a new DB means that you are making a fresh start, but at the cost of losing historical data.

HI John,

If we want to copy sessions logs and Queue items from a database to another database what will be the sql script for that.

Thanks,
Ajay

Hi Ajay - please send a mail to our Support team for advice. Due to the fact that each DB will probably contain different machine IDs, user IDs, process IDs, etc, copying data between DBs may not be straight forward. And from a business/compliance/audit/security perspective, you may need to consider whether queue data should be duplicated across environments.
