I have the absolute privilege of getting to read and listen to so many of your contributions across the community every week, and let me tell you – you’re all on fire lately. So to repay your kindness, I want to take some time to pick out a few activities across the community that made me smile recently.

Welcome to our first Best of the Prism post!

The best questions and answers

  1. Selecting items from Combo Boxes / Drop Downs
    HelpMePlease
(nice username, by the way!) is having inconsistent results in selecting a specific item from a drop down menu that’s been spied. With some great input from @steven.boggs, Chakkravarthi_PR and Denis__Dennehy – the community provided a series of approaches to get better results:

  2. Replacing OLEDB when processing bulk data
    apamecha
’s internal team is ending support for OLEDB, so what alternative methods are available to efficiently process bulk data? Tejaskumar_Darji highlights the “Get CSV data in chunks” action from the File Management asset on the DX, and Mukeshh_k recommends a Python approach – with sample code and screenshots!

I want to give an additional shout out here to david.I.morris, harish.mogulluri and mohamad_747 who, in addition to the folks tagged above, have been relentlessly helping others in the Community. Thank you all so much for sharing your know-how!

If you’re looking for opportunities to help others, and level up your community profile, head over to the Can You Help feed to find unanswered questions waiting for assistance.

The best newcomers

It can be a little scary posting in the forum for the first time, so here’s a very warm welcome to a few of our newest members who made great contributions:

  • Paritosh – who has been sharing a bunch of great ideas for Chorus
  • ManojKothapalli_G – for walking through the Community’s front door and immediately contributing great answers to 5 different technical questions
  • Dehli – for a great question on .NET Framework versions

Don’t forget, if you see a member with a Level less than 3, it’s probably their first visit to our shared space. Roll out the red carpet, and take some time to make them feel welcome!

The best events

The events calendar has been VERY busy this past month, with user group meetups, Blue Prism Engage Madrid, SS&C Deliver and our Strategic Product Roadmap sessions.

Did you know you can quickly add all upcoming events to your calendar by clicking Options > Add Events to Calendar? You’ll get an .ics file to import to Outlook!

SS&C Blue Prism Engage Paris – Nov 19
Join us at The Circle of Aumale in Paris on November 19 for case studies, product innovations, networking and more!

Rethinking Intelligent Automation and Faster Time to Value – Nov 26
Don’t miss this if you’re in the manufacturing space. Volvo, ABB and Innomatics GmbH will discuss automation governance, delivery, culture and tech.

Accelerate your career with soft skills – Nov 27
I’ll be hosting our wonderful MVPs as we address a rising issue in the automation talent pool – the disappearance of soft skills. If you want to gain an edge over other candidates for automation jobs, don’t miss this. We’ll talk through which soft skills are important, how to learn them and how to show them off at interview.

The best new ideas

With 51 community ideas developed and released so far, submitting your vote against new ideas that would impact your work is a great way to influence the future of SS&C Blue Prism. Here’s a few new ideas that are starting to gather pace:

  1. Allow selection of all “Element Types” by Asilarow
  2. Identify potential infinite loops by andrewparish
  3. AI and NLP based auto expression generation in calc stage by Tejaskumar_Darji

Find more ideas to support over in Product Ideas.

Something to inspire you

I’ve been shouting from the rooftops on LinkedIn about Alizee and john.mackey’s 3 part series on The Art of Maintenance, because it’s absolutely packed with reasons why your team need to set aside time for proactive maintenance. As your team learns, gets faster and more efficient – it’s well worth revisiting older processes to see what gains can be made.

Grab a coffee and feed your brain:

Over to you...

That’s all from me for now! Thank you to absolutely everyone who visits our shared space. With over 500 answers to questions every month, our community continues to be a hive mind of automation expertise – and your kind contributions make that happen.

Is there someone who inspired you, helped you or made you feel great in our community this past month? Post a reply and let me know.

Thanks everyone 💙

The community wont let me tag more than 10 people per post (we're working on it 😂), so forgive me for tagging all of the wonderful people featured in this month's highlights here!
