I believe it is advantageous to include the list of default objects within the learning edition of Blue Prism (which was the case prior to 7.3). I can't speak on behalf of everyone but we currently don't have a training environment within our Enterprise install of Blue Prism and utilise the learning edition to run training of the Blue Prism product.
Not having these included with the learning edition requires us to provide a release file to each trainee, or have them download what they need from DX directly.
Also, I note that the documentation is not correct for verifying an installation as it still points to the VBO folder, which is now empty as of 7.3.

Although the setting 'start a personal runtime resource on this machine when users sign in to Blue Prism' affects the whole environment and I assume it is rarely used (why would someone start BP to make it act as a runtime resource that then takes over the workplace?! why not start the process directly in Studio or send it to a dedicated runtime resource?!). By default (at least in 6.9 not sure about 7.3.x yet) each user will register his workplace as possible runtime resource, mixing it with dedicated runtime resources and needs to be removed manually. Having a private runtime resource start when starting BP UI may also cause issues with network ports and other system resources. Currently the only option to deactivate the 'start a personal runtime resource' is to login into BP and change it manually, on each workplace/resource, which can only be done with BP admin rights, so users are not even able to change settings for their own workplace. Some ideas on how to improve the situation: make the 'personal runtime resource' disabled by default make it a system wide setting allow users to change this setting for their own workplace have this setting easily changeable in an automated way. eg via CLI, config file (that can be amended during install process) make it a centrally managed feature of a runtime resource/workplace similar to eg logging levels that can be changed in System\Resources\Management any other possible idea that might help but is not listed here

Currently, the Exception Types are created by users manually typing into the combo box within the Exception Stage's properties.
This often leads to multiplication of the same exception type due to typos, misunderstandings, etc.
Example below:
This in turn becomes a nightmare when it comes to reporting, as often a hard set rule cannot be followed for extrapolating these from the overall pot.
I suggest removing the ability to add new exception types by typing into the combo box, and instead make it a privileged action within the System settings.
For example within the already existing Exception Type screen:
This could be done by implementing an "Add new exception type" action on the side panel, below the already existing "Scan processes"

It would be very useful to classify or to filter Environment Variables for example by processes because to handle lot of process and lot of Environment Variables very difficult.

Problem Statement: Currently we have a number of use cases which require Python scripts to complete specific NLE activity or to support with the management of files such as: encrypting/ decrypting with specific PGP keys converting protected PDF documents to unprotected, editable and readable documents for OCR extraction managing multiple PDF documents such as deleting pages, merging documents These scripts are currently utilised as standalone py files which are triggered via Blue Prism; but not within Blue Prism. Proposed Solution: Include Python as a supported language within Blue Prism code stages Provide Python as an installable supporting application alongside core Blue Prism product installer Provide the ability to run 'pip install' to obtain dependencies for scripts all within Blue Prism.

Provide an automatic refactoring update to any renamed data item. Although renaming should not be done willy-nilly, it is a common task during development. As your process grows it can become burdensome to manually have to find references and rename each occurrence of data item. If a rename could be detected, prompt offered to confirm with list of potential updates, that would be very helpful. potentially useful and core capability for other renaming/adjustment tasks such as renaming components, page references, etc.

I would like to contribute an idea for improving the scheduler to check if the schedule is in an executable state before executing it, and if an execution error is detected, to automatically wait until the schedule is in an executable state and execute it. As a concept, I expect the functionality to be able to control the schedule execution by First-In First-Out as well as work queue. Currently, considering a solution for when a schedule execution error occurs for some cause, we have to manually maintain complex schedule operations such as periodic schedule settings in order to detect it, allow time for it to become executable, and then surely re-execute it. I am sure that this will not only reduce the workload of administrators, but also improve the utilization of digital workers by avoiding execution errors.

I think it would be a great idea to have an auto complete feature in the expressions editor so if you start typing a data item or collection name it will suggest options based on the already created data items or collections within your process or object. and then if you press the tab key it will auto complete the name in the editor for you. I've attached a mock up to visualise how this could look. I feel this would save a little time but also it would make it simpler with less clicking involved.

Current behavior: If you add, edit, or delete an environment variable and then navigate away to another tab (away from the System tab) without clicking Apply and then come back to the System tab and go to environment variables, you'll see that your add/edit/delete wasn't actually committed to the database. This is not a great user experience. What makes this even worse is that at least in v7.3.1, you can navigate to another part of the System tab and then come back to Environment Variables (thinking this will have refreshed them), and you'll see your updates are still there. Only when you navigate away from the System tab and come back are you able to identify that the change was discarded. I know someone who once deleted hundreds of environment variables that weren't needed anymore only to find out later that all that effort was negated because he didn't see the Apply button at the bottom right or simply forgot to click it. Suggested new behavior: As soon as you navigate away from the Environment Variables screen, a modal dialog popup should show asking whether you want to Apply changes or not. It would be awesome if it told you what environment variables are affected but that isn't a big deal to me. Secondary suggested new behavior: 6 years ago, someone made a good suggestion here, but that was back before the current version of the Blue Prism Community, so I wanted to bring it here in the Ideas section. The suggestion was to add some kind of indicator next to each environment variable that was added/updated showing that the changes have not yet been saved. I think this would be nice but isn't required, in my opinion. If this suggestion has already been made in the Ideas section here, I couldn't find it.

Right now, BP does not have trigger-based run features, which are much needed in automation. This is something that can be added in the BP, as there is no native trigger-based mechanism. It is much needed and useful in many use cases where users don't want to keep polling and occupying licenses.

With the Releases panel being te mess it is, it does not cater for organizing the long list of packages made over the years. The possibility by higher management to not allow the deletion of old releases does not contribute to the situation. What I'd like to have is the possibility to add folders on the Release panel. These can be used to organize the packages made over the years and result in some order in the chaos that is the Releases panel today. Each department running RPA can have its own folder. Old packages can be moved to dedicated folders that management has the ability to clean-up on request. Happy coding! --------------- Paul Sweden

As an automation tool, the tool itself should provide the possibility to easily automate itself. An exposed API would be nice to access Blue Prism internal data, information, configuration and automate certain tasks and generate own reports if desired. I want to avoid querying BP repository, which is very likely to change between versions and have to reverse engineer SQL. Having an API will provide a stable and efficient way to access all data. Additional functions on top of this data would allows various types of automation.

Currently, for some elements spied in Web mode, the "Element Type" combo box only allows a selection limited to the type spied: This proves to be particularly troublesome when re-spying elements using "Application Navigator", as then the type selected remains the same as it was spied initially, even though the Attributes will be changed correctly. This bug is problematic especially when trying to read the contents of such elements - for example a table. Being unable to change the element type, reduces the actions available for a Read stage... and in the case of tables, does not show the "Read rows" action, unless the element was previously spied as a table. Can this please be amended, so that the "Element Type" combo box allows selecting all of the types available for the spying mode used.

Hi BP Team, The ability to select and mark multiple queue items as exception. Not having this option was a bit of a surprise. What happens if you need to mark a huge volume of items? I had to already and it took long. The data provided to the queue was bad so I could not retry and didn't have much of an option. There should be an option to make changes to multiple items on a page regardless of the status. Having to do one at a time when you have a large volume items isn't practical. The items also can't remain in a pending state because then the DW will pick them up. Along with that, an option to empty a work queue would also be nice. Having to then select all delete multiple pages of data, if ever needed, can also be unnecessarily tedious. Thank you,

Hi, Current scheduling options are quite limited (static) when it comes to allocation of resources. We would like a schema to be able to allocate one resource in a pool and execute all tasks in a sequence. Adress: Overlapping schemas on the same resource. With a larger pool we could cut the overhead needed to secure robot processing. Also, a crashed/stuck robot would not affect the following schemas. (Security reasons imply usage of different robot accounts for different processes.)

The AutomateC.exe utility in the current iteration can fetch just the plain log lines from the Blue Prism logs using the /getlog switch. The following images shows the difference between what is visible in the Log Viewer for a target session vs. what is actually returned when the AutomateC.exe /getlog command is executed on the same session. As seen below , the log info returned via AutomateC.exe does not contain the information from the Parameters column that is normally visible in the Log Viewer. Purpose for this Request: We have a practical need where we have to execute a series of processes that are pre-configured in a configuration source. The number and order of the processes will vary with the type of Business process that is being currently executed via Blue Prism. In Blue Prism there is currently no way to dynamically call a Process at runtime by passing the process name as a parameter. The AutomateC.exe is the only avenue using which processes can be called by generating command lines at runtime by passing in the name of the process and their input parameters. Most importantly, if we can pass in input parameters to a process that is being executed via AutomateC.exe, it is only natural that this utility be versatile enough that it is able to return the output parameters returned by a process that has executed in a specific session. Thank you! -Andy Menon

During development for large processes, time is wasted on finding the right page. This can be sped up by organizing the pages, but it would be faster and easier to read if the pages could be grouped and/or colored. Groups could be rolled up and expanded as needed.

Need for new parameter/command-line switch added to AutomateC functionality that could potentially perform the same actions as the "Verify Release" function in the client We want to veriy the package after import similar to the action which we manually perform from the BP Desktop app or client. Currently we use AutomateC CLI commands to import a package/release and then we want a similar sub flag to verify the same release as well. FYI, community support link https://community.blueprism.com/question/cli-command-to-verify-a-bluerism-packagebprelease
